Citroën Racing has formally welcomed Eric Camilli

Citroën Racing has formally welcomed Eric Camilli to its 2021 FIA World Rally Championship WRC2 Campaign. However for the 2021 season Citroën Racing has entrusted its brand and product to be operated by Portuguese outfit Sports&You. The team will represent Citroën Racing with the young Frenchman piloting the C3 Rally 2 from The Monte-Carlo Rally which is hoped will still run between 18th-24th January. Sports&You was not so much an obvious choice for us given the history and relationship that PH Sports has with Citroën. This announcement also leaves us…

WRC | RALLYE SWEDENS FUTURE INTO 2022 UNCERTAIN

Following on from a trepid rally in 2020 where Rallye Sweden only just ran by the skin of its teeth due to the lack of Snow, Ice and Wintery conditions; it was then hit again for 2021 by the global pandemic of COVID forcing its cancellation. But now local Swedish news SVT are reporting the future of the event and its return to the FIA World Rally Championship in 2022 is also a concern for the Swedes. The Swedish Association for Motorsport (SBF – Swedish Automobile Sports Federation) owns a…

WRC | RADIO SILENCE CONTINUES ON RALLY GB’S WRC INCLUSION FRONT!

Following on from our previous thoughts back in December surrounding the concerns over Rally GB and the challenges that it faces, with regards to funding and the effects of COVID-19. We now find ourselves in January of 2021, approximately 8 months away from our allocated slot in the 2021 FIA World Rally Championships (which is 19th – 22nd Aug) and still there appears to be radio silence on the event from our governing body, Motorsport UK or any such organiser/promoter of the rally. In October 2019 Wales Rally GB (&…

WRC | CONCERNS FOR BRITISH RALLY FANS AT PROSPECT OF NO DEAL WRC

And that is: Is it time that the British Rally fans start to really entertain the possibilities that the top level of our much loved sport in that the FIA World Rally Championship may not visit its shores for the second consecutive year in 2021?…

WRC | SWEDENS REPLACEMENT?

Following the cancellation of Rally Sweden, The FIA and WRC promoter (Red Bull) begun to explore the possibilities of an alternative winter snow rally in place of Sweden. Finland was contacted about this a few weeks ago and various negotiations have now taken place. The Arctic Lapland Rally (or Fell Rally as locally known), which runs around Rovaniemi, was initially singled out as a candidate for a Swedish replacement but alas is likely to still run at its original planned January date. “If the replacement event for the Swedish Rally,…

WRC | NO RALLY GB IN 2021?

The latest that we are hearing is that even Northern Ireland has been unable to gain the approval for Government funding for a potential round of the 2021 FIA World Rally Championship in August. So it is increasing looking likely that there will be no British round full stop. It is possible that an alternative event, maybe Monza or even Ypres (on the assumption that the Belgium Government would allow spectators) are to be considered as replacements. There is also some uncertainty for the return of Kenya’s Safari Rally whom…

WRC | RALLYE SWEDEN 2021 CANCELLED?

In light of the ongoing Pandemic that still affects many parts of the globe, Rallye Sweden which finances itself through the sale of tickets & passes could be forfeited from the 2021 FIA World Rally Championships. It is believed that the likelihood of COVID-19 still affecting the region of Värmland where the rally takes place is increasing and thus the organisers fear that the vital spectators that are needed to pay for the event maybe forbidden to attend.
