NEWS / FOUR TIME WELSH CHAMP HIRST REGISTERS FOR BRC
06/01/2025Four times, Welsh Rally Champ Matthew Hirst has registered for the British Rally Championship.
Predominantly a gravel surface-favoured driver, Hirst will tackle the tarmac of Yorkshire alongside long-term Co-Driver Declan Dear, at the Closed-Roads East Riding Stages, the opening round of the 2025 ProBite British Rally Championship.
Partway through their 2024 campaign they switched from the Ford Fiesta to a Skoda Fabia, pretty much getting to grips with the new chariot from the first turn of the wheel, on their way to securing their record-breaking back-to-back fourth Welsh titles.
Hirst will be aiming to mix it up in the BRC at least for the opening two rounds and will take it from there. Following the Asphalt at the East Riding in Yorkshire, the more familiar World-Class Welsh gravel at the Seven Valley Stages awaits in April for Round 2.
Hirst & Dear will also continue to fight it out in the BTRDA and Welsh Championships this season in their Delta Salvage Skoda Fabia.
We’ve registered for the British Rally Championship for the first time, and we couldn’t be more excited to kick things off with my local event, the East Riding Stages Rally.
This is a dream we’ve always aspired to, but challenges surrounding restrictor size regulations and reconnaissance rules had kept it just out of reach—until now.
With the first two rounds aligning with our other championship commitments, there’s nothing standing in our way.
This is our chance to finally measure ourselves against the best, and we’re ready to give it everything we’ve got!
A massive thank you to our incredible partners—Delta Salvage Ltd, Witham Motorsport, Pirelli Motorsport, and Speedline Corse UK. Your support makes this journey possible, and we’re proud to carry your names as we step up to this exciting challenge.
Now it’s time to hit the ground running, seize this opportunity, and see how we stack up against the big hitters. Here’s to the season ahead!
