The Woodpecker Rally is now firmly settled into its new Mid Wales base after last year’s move from Ludlow. The switch has opened up some of the sport’s most famous gravel stages, with around 45 competitive miles on offer through Hafren and the rarely used Tarenig – stages that have shaped rallying history for decades.
Saturday 12th July 2025 marked a landmark occasion in British rallying as the iconic Nicky Grist Stages returned for its 40th consecutive year as part of the BTRDA Forest Rally Championship. Hosted once again by the experienced hands of Quinton Motor Club, the award-winning event drew more than 140 crews to the picturesque town of Builth Wells for the one-day gravel showcase.

The MRF Tyres BTRDA Rally Series arrived in Builth Wells, Wales for the second time this season at the Nicky Grist Stages Rally, Round 5 of the 2023 Season. This award-winning Quinton Motor Club organised event never fails to deliver a cracking one-day forest rally, on what we think are some mega gravel stages for this part of God’s own back garden (aka Wales). Eight stages (four of repeated) covered approximately 44 competitive stage miles and would once again feature classic and renowned tests on both MOD and Natural Resources Wales owned land.
The MRF Tyres BTRDA Rally Series makes a welcomed return to the national stage rallying calendar on March 11th. The Malcolm Wilson Stages Rally will once again take up the honours as the season curtain raiser for the 2023 Championships, where an exciting eight-round calendar is on the cards.
