NEWS | XLERATE ADDS BRITISH RALLY CHAMPIONSHIP TO ITS 2023 LINE-UP
03/03/2023As part of our continued commitment to National Rallying coverage, Xlerate is pleased to confirm the return of the British Rally Championship to its pages for 2023.
Last year Xlerate covered every round of the 2022 British Rally Championship in the form of Free-to-View, online post-rally reports. From the leading BRC1 Class to the Junior British Rally Championship, Rally by Rally, Stage by Stage and Battle by Battle, Xlerate will once again aim to feature every round of the BRC on its pages this year.
The Motorsport UK British Rally Championship offers up a platform for British talent to compete in the latest spec machinery that conforms to FIA homologation regulations, over some of the best British stages and on some of the toughest rallies that we have, the BRC is a Championship that is also steeped in history with an impressive back catalogue of Champions.
“It is clear to any rally fan who spectates at a round of the BRC that the pace of the top crews in the Championship is impressive.” Xlerate’s Chief Editor, Andy Cook comments. “With a bucket load of talent pushing Rally 2 & R5 spec cars to the limits, the margins at times can be very tight, which more often than not, delivers great battles”.

But It’s not just the drivers and cars that add to the attraction of the BRC, it’s the events that make up the Championship also, Andy goes on to say.
“There are some real class rallies on the schedule over the year, which also play their own part in building the series; both gravel and asphalt surfaces feature, and it’s each of those events which really do provide that ultimate challenge to the competitor”.
Alongside the top BRC1 class, there is a decent spread of classes which cater for a range of cars, for example, there is a National Rally title up for grabs, this is aimed at cars that have a Motorsport UK technical Passport and then there’s the JBRC title also. The Junior British Rally Championship provides a playground for under 27-year-olds to gain that all-important experience by competing at some of the top British events. “Last year some of the Juniors laid down some eyebrow-raising performances! Their pace in those Rally 3/4 & R2 spec cars can be really impressive; even say when compared to some of the more experienced national level competitors in arguably much more powerful machinery”. Along with taking part in recce and making their own pace notes, the JBRC helps lay the foundations for any young up-and-coming talent to begin their rally career from.

“The BRC is considered the top tier in National Stage Rallying and all of these ingredients mentioned, make up for an exciting series, and it is for those reasons that Xlerate will once again be following the BRC in 2023″. Xlerate’s Free to view online BRC coverage will begin with the opening round of the season, The Malcolm Wilson Stages Rally, where this years registered BRC crews will take to the gravel in the Forests of the Lake District for the first time in decades.
