The BTCC descended upon the indy circuit at Brands Hatch for the third meeting of the season and rounds 7, 8 and 9 of the championship. The weather on race day was in stark contrast to the heatwave the drivers experienced at Snetterton, and were met with changeable conditions and a mostly overcast day. Photo: Brands Hatch The qualifying session saw a front row lockout for the Halfords Racing with Cataclean Honda Civics, Daniel Rowbottom securing his first pole position with his teammate and three-time title winner Gordon Shedden alongside…

BTCC | RD 1/2/3 – THRUXTON 2021

The BTCC returned this weekend for the start of the 2021 season, throwing the drivers in at the deep end at the quickest track on the calendar at Thruxton. Add in the mix some inclement weather and it didn’t disappoint in regards to talking points and good racing. Photos: BTCC It didn’t take long for the action to get started, (Pole man) Ash Sutton got a great start but going into the complex was tapped into a spin by his closest rival from last season Colin Turkington, a move that…

BTCC | 2021 SEASON PREVIEW

There is a new season to look forward to and plenty of changes with a few departures, some old faces re-joining and new deals, drivers and cars to look forward to and hopefully spectators too. One of the biggest departures from the series sees Matt Neal leaving the BTCC after making his debut in 1991, along with his teammate from last season Dan Cammish who makes a return to the Porsche Carrera Cup. BTCC | RDS 19|20|21 – THRUXTON 2019

With Rockingham no longer on the BTCC calendar, the teams returned to Thruxton for a second outing this weekend. The round in May was dominated by the WSR BMW’s but with a mid-season change in the balance of performance, the advantage swung back in favour of the front-wheel-drive cars the track is more suited to. Despite there being a two-week gap from Snetterton the battle between old teammates Plato and Sutton was being discussed by media and fans alike which filled the gap until this round. The first few minutes…

BTCC | RD 16/17/18 – SNETTERTON 2019

The traditional summer break is one that seems to drag its heels for drivers, teams and spectators alike. With the return to racing, however, the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship descended upon Snetterton and where once the rumble of American bombers rolled across the Norfolk countryside, today it is home to the sounds of action, excitement and motorsport. The talking point of the weekend was the decision to dispense with the traditional tyre compound selection. For the first time, all 3 compounds were available to use, albeit one tyre…

BTCC | RD 13/14/15 | OULTON PARK 2019

Oulton Park hosted the fifth round of the BTCC and marked the halfway point in the championship. The title battle is now slowly beginning to take shape, with Turkington leaving Croft as the championship leader and Rory Butcher just behind, despite not having the best of weekends at the Yorkshire circuit. Andrew Jordan has impressively clawed his way back into third, a great feat considering he picked up zero points at the Donington round after a big shunt in the first race, an impact which would see him miss out…

BTCC | RD 10/11/12 – CROFT 2019

Andrew Jordan continued his winning form in the new BMW 3-Series by taking his 4th and 5th wins of the season at Croft. A brace of dominant lights to flag victories in the first two races of the day and a solid 8th placed finish in the reverse grid race propelled the West Surrey Racing driver from 9th to 4th in the championship standings. Ash Sutton celebrated his 100th BTCC start for Race 1, enjoying a relatively uneventful race in the process but following on from contact with the ever-improving…

BTCC | RD 7/8/9 | THRUXTON 2019

The third round of the British Touring Car Championship headed to Hampshire and the quickest track on the calendar at Thruxton. Ash Sutton went into the three race meet in the lead of the championship by a small margin, but the double race win at Donington by Colin Turkington had moved him up to third in the championship,  just behind Josh Cook. Parts of the Hampshire circuit had been resurfaced over the winter period, which would likely mean that what was already a quick track was probably set to become…

BTCC | RD 4/5/6 | DONINGTON PARK 2019

The KwikFit British Touring Car Championship rolled into Leicestershire for the second meeting of the 2019 season. Donington Park has a rich history of providing some outstanding racing; think back to a sodden European Grand Prix in 1993 and a sterling first lap effort from Ayrton Senna. Rounds 4, 5 and 6 were no different, albeit from the other side of the fence for many. Reigning champion Colin Turkington took a brace of lights to flag victories and looked comfortable with the new West Surrey Racing entered BMW 3-Series, doubling…
